Soul Link

AD 2045, Aizawa Ryota is a 3rd year military cadet, assigned to train at the space station Aries, along with his classmates and others trainees. However, shortly after their arrivals, the station was attacked by the terrorist group Hallarax, and while helping civilians to evacuate the space station, Ryota and his friends are now stucked on the station. With his brother, Officer Aizawa Shuhei leading the charge, can they keep the terrorists at bay and escape back to Earth?

Unknown to Ryota and others, there is a traitor within them with a sinister motive...

Soul Link is first released as a hentai PC game by Navel in December 2004, with character design by Suzuhira Hiro (鈴平 ひろ). The PS2 adaptation, Soul Link EXTENSION was released in June 2006, with one new character plus a expanded storyline. The anime adaptation, based on the PS2 storyline, was first broadcasted in April 2006. A total of 12 episodes were produced, along with a special flashback episode that took place between episode 10 and 11.

It is a good sci-fi story, with lots of actions and some light humor. Animation quality is very good, better than I expected. There are a few tear-jerking scenes that are surprisingly good, and the ending is not what I expected. Then again, I did not play through the original PC game, so I have no comment on that...

Overall, a better than average anime adaptation that any causal sci-fi fans can enjoy.
