Record of Lodoss War was a comic adaptation of the same title. First released as a 13-episode OVA series in 1990, it was one of the most popular anime in Japan at that time. In 1998, a new TV series based on the original OVA was released.

Quite frankly, if you have never heard or watch this series, well you should!!!!!! The story is a first class RPG setting, character designs are first class. Absolutely a must for new anime fans!

Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight (1998)

An old friend of mine warned me about this series last year, when I decided to pick up a copy to try. Well my old friend is right. It is absolutely the most terrible thing one can do to mess up a good anime.

Essentially the later part of the OVA story was "changed" to accomodate the TV series. Instead of starting where the OVA left off, the TV series spent about the first 6 episodes rewriting the OVA stories, to the point that, it is pure torture.

The bad guys now are rewritten to the point that it makes me laugh. It is so horrible that they will have normal human beings under their rule, and you won't find that in the OVA. It is simply illogical.

Apparantly, there are sequels to this torturous series. I will leave you to explore them on your own. The name of the sequel is Legend of Crystania.
