ガサラキ (Gasaraki)
In the near future, a new arm race has begun. A new bipedal concept fighting machine will rule the battlefield. Gowa Industry of Japan has developed a working version of the prototype machine, and went as far as having one of their own, Gowa Yoshiro, as a test pilot with the JDSF.
The conflict in Europe proved to be the perfect timing to demostrate Gowa's bipedal machines. However, the enemy also happened to have their own bipedal machines! Who is supplying the new machines to the enemy? Also, is the same secret organization seeking for the same thing as the Gowa family? What is the secret behind Gasaraki, and how is Yoshiro the key to unlock its secrets...?
Gasaraki was produced in 1998 by Sunrise, with mechanic designs by Izubuchi Yutaka (出渕 裕), known more famously for his design of RX-93 ν Gundam in Char's Counterattack in 1988

If you are interested in Japanese mythology, you will have a better time enjoying this show, as the show mix modern technology with the mythology of "Gasaraki", the war machines from the feudal times.
For mecha fans, you may be slightly disappointed, as there are only 2 distinct type of mecha throughout the whole show. (Even Sunrise's own martketing department was driven crazy by that fact)
It is not exactly a must watch, but it is interesting enough that any anime fan should at least take a look at it.
