ちよびつツ (Chobits)

In the near future, "Persocoms" are everywhere, in all shapes and forms. It can look like a doll, a pet, or even a human.

Motosuwa Hideki, a country boy and recent "ronin", is taking cram school in Tokyo. While everyone around him has a Persocom, he is too broke to own one. One night, he found one in a trash heap. Bringing it home is no easy task, and being an "idiot" when it comes to Persocom, Hideki has no idea what to expect when he turns it on the first time. Only able to pronounce "Chi", the unit seems to have lost all previous memory, but it can sure learn things if Hideki has the patience...

Can Hideki teaches "Chi" anything properly?

Chobits was produced in 2002 by Pioneer / Geneon, based on the manga "Chobits" by CLAMP

Chobits (2002)
26 episodes TV series

It starts out as a hilarious show, but it will get serious enough later when it comes to relationships among all the characters, which I really enjoy, especially when it comes to love between a human and machine.

There are some slight difference in the flow of events between the TV and the manga, as well as some changes to the plot too. I will let you to discover that yourself.

Graphics are top notch, and I really like the opening song so much I bought the soundtrack CD. Takana Rie (田中 理恵) can really sing (that's why she is casted as Lacus Clyne in Gundam Seed).

Chobits (2001 - 2002)
8 volume manga

A not so typical release from CLAMP, known more for turning up manga for girls instead of boys. With trademark stroy telling from the foursome, it is a good pick up for everyone.

With a slightly different ending than the anime, I think the manga version is better, but then again, the ending with the anime is not bad either... you can either read the manga first and watch the anime later, or vice versa, and it will not ruin your enjoyment either way.
